It is written: Then Jesus was led by The Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. ~ Matthew 4:1
It is written: When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone. ~ James 1:13
The Lord recently corrected my understanding of afflictions. Therefore, I need to share this with others in The Body of Christ who believe incorrectly as I did. Also, I repent if I contributed to your belief that God caused you any type of affliction in the past. It's under The Blood and I'm moving forward. Please join me so we can continue to walk in dominion and authority.
First, when we read the word 'affliction' in The Logos, it means test, trial, temptation, sickness, disease, etc. - negative things. Affliction is of the demonic realm. It does not come from God. It would be ridiculous for God to have had Jesus beaten to the point of flesh being torn from Him so that by those wounds we can claim healing when God Himself made us sick in the first place. That's stupid and God is not stupid. It's typical behavior for a liar to tell us our Life-Giving God makes people sick, though.
God does NOT send any of the affliction types on us. If you've read through Job, as I have, and believed or quoted him saying God gives and takes away, I'm here to tell you that's Job's perspective (understanding) of what was going on in his life, and not consistent with God's character at all, and that's why God corrected him later asking Job if he was privy to creation and how the universe functions. Job became silent when God questioned him because he didn't know as much about the spiritual and natural realms as we do today. Job couldn't read Chapter 1 to know that satan was the source of his afflictions. I'll come back to him a little later.
When I read Matthew 4:1 in the past I read 'led' literally. Sometimes we forget that The Bible is translated into English from an even more complex set of languages. In this verse 'led' should be 'allowed' - The Spirit allowed Jesus to enter to the wilderness to be tempted. Why? Because Jesus allowed Himself to be tempted to have the full human experience. His successful human experience proved to us that we could overcome sin and the demonic agenda through intimate communion with The Father in Heaven, The Word and by seeking The Kingdom first. He told us that whatever we allow on earth, it's allowed in heaven, and whatever we declare unlawful on earth is unlawful in heaven (Matthew 18:18). Jesus chose to be fully human to show us how to live Kingdom Life on earth. And He laid down His Life to legally make us ambassadors of His Authority.
God gave humankind The Dominion Mandate in Genesis 1:28, and if you read through The Bible you know it was never rescinded. Yes, Adam and Eve relinquished dominion to satan, but Jesus gave it back to us. God allows what we allow. We have dominion and authority on earth and it's our choice to use it or be overcome (Psalm 115:16). The enemy is going to steal, kill and destroy. That's what they do. But we don't have to allow it to continue and we don't have to remain in a state of loss or lack because of their attacks. We must resist them (James 4:7) and then demand restoration of our goods (Luke 18:4) according to The Word (Proverbs 6:31).
Back to Job. Job admitted what he greatly feared came upon him. It's a spiritual law that whatever is in your spirit will come out of your mouth (Matthew 12:34). Job had been speaking fear words and offering sacrifices daily as corresponding action to show how scared he was in life. We have to know satan was gonna get him. Fear words and actions are food for the demonic realm, and faith words fuel The Kingdom of God. Job sowed seeds of fear and invited the enemy to devour his life. I used to live my life that way. I experienced months and months of loss in 2011 and I attributed it to disobeying an invitation from God when in fact I'd been sowing fear and doubt seeds with my words and actions day after day and had destroyed any faith in my spirit so I there was no way I could fight the enemy. And people praying for me could only do so much because they can't override my free will which was completely submitted to fear.
Adam submitted to satan, too. He could've exercised dominion over that creeping thing and told him to leave the planet and never return, but he didn't. Adam allowed satan to start talking. Faith comes by hearing. They heard the lies of satan and believed them, and here we are.
If we have the wrong belief that God perfects saints by tests, trials and temptations, we cannot fight the enemy properly because we won't have God-Faith that wields The Sword of The Spirit and puts angels to work (Ephesians 4:11-12). Jesus said He came to give us a rich and satisfying life, and if we say He's testing us we're wrong and lying on Him. And who usually lies on Jesus? ... satan. It's a perfect plan for the demonic. If we believe God caused our affliction, we can't get His power to back up our praying The Word (read IF YOU HAD FAITH YOU'D SAY #5).
It is written: And the Lord said, "If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you." ~ Luke 17:6
Jesus gives me a rich and satisfying life and authority overcome the enemy because Holy Spirit in me is greater than anything in this world. I wield The Sword of The Spirit in faith and am delivered from any affliction that tries to come. I've been redeemed from the curse so no weapon formed against me prospers and I refute every tongue that rises against me in judgment. When I catch the enemy stealing, they repay me seven times, even up to their entire household. I exercise authority and dominion and command the demonic to take their hands off of my life, destiny, health, finances, family, career and ministry in Jesus' Name.
